Intern of the Month
Dr. Julia Araneta
“Julia is an exceptionally strong intern. She has excellent clinical judgement, going as far as teaching the rest of the team management and work up of hypercalcemia on the fly. She was able to handle multiple peri-icu level patients on the floor with ease, continuously advancing their care while keeping them safe on the floor. Julia did a great job of managing a difficult patient with psychosis and extreme agitation. This patient had a very complex social situation, so we needed to seek guardianship. Julia did a wonderful job of coordinating this with social work, case management, risk management, and hospital leadership to work towards guardianship and a safe dispo for this patient. Julia had great bedside manner, with multiple patients telling me how much they liked her. I remember one patient and her family in particular raving about Dr. Julia, because she would take the time to update all 3 of the patient’s daughters daily. I am certain that Julia will be a great senior resident next year!”

Intern of the Month
Dr. Waleed Ali
“Waleed took care of a list of complex patients with exceptionally challenging personalities. He kept his calm with each patient despite less than cooperative behaviors and communication from the patients. He worked diligently to get the patients the care they needed in the ways that they wanted/would allow. For patients that lesser humans may have written off, Waleed persevered and did what was right plus then some for the patient in each instance, putting in extra time and going above and beyond.”

Resident of the Month
Dr. Rebecca Cunningham
“Dr. Cunningham is truly one of the best residents I have ever had the pleasure of working with. She is an exceptional clinician—humble yet incredibly smart. What struck me most about her was her attention to detail, her impressive clinical reasoning, and her enviable bedside manner.
She is the epitome of a model physician and consistently demonstrated clinical skills far beyond her years. I trust Dr. Cunningham completely. She embodies the type of clinician we should all aspire to be and is truly deserving of this recognition!”

Resident of the Month
Dr. Annie Lien
“Dr. Lien walked over to the CAM herself to pick up medications for a patient who was wheelchair bound and did not have the ability to transport herself. This ensured patient had her medications when leaving clinic and saved the patient from waiting for a delivery pharmacy which would take several days.”
