This is an exciting and important time for our fellowship programs as they work to identify candidates who will contribute to the continued success and growth of their respective specialties.
- Residency Recruitment: Our residency programs are gearing up for another exciting recruitment season and look forward to welcoming prospective applicants throughout the interview process. The season is already off to a fantastic start, with thousands of interested applicants on the first day ERAS opened! We look forward to connecting with talented future residents and showcasing the many opportunities our programs have to offer.
- Annual Program Evaluations and WebADS: All GME programs have successfully completed their Annual Program Evaluations (APEs) and WebADS submissions, marking an important milestone in our ongoing commitment to program improvement, accreditation readiness, and educational excellence. With these essential tasks complete, programs are now turning their attention to the upcoming institutional survey and preparing for the next phase of the review process.
- Transplant Nephrology Fellowship Accreditation: We are excited to share that the Transplant Nephrology Fellowship has been approved as an ACGME-accredited program! This is an important achievement for the department and represents a significant step forward in expanding our fellowship training opportunities. We look forward to the continued growth and success of this program and the contributions it will make to the education and development of future specialists.
Undergraduate Medical Education (UME)

Dr. Jackie Birnbaum will be starting the primary care ACR build in October. Please reach out if you’re interested in having primary care ACR students working with you in your clinics. We look forward to hearing from you!
In January 2026, the IM Clerkship transitioned to six weeks of in-patient. Previously, students would complete four weeks of in-patient and two weeks of out-patient. We have seen a positive result in this change within the curriculum. In total, 35 SELs were completed and submitted for the medical students applying to Internal Medicine Residency.
