The Academy of Educators offers three awards to recognize faculty who show exceptional promise as an educator through contributions in one or more domains of direct teaching, curriculum development, assessment, mentorship, educational leadership, and educational scholarship.
- Lifetime Achievement Award: highest honor; lifelong commitment
- Exemplary Educator Award: mid-career educators
- Rising Star Award: early career educators
These awards are tangible evidence of the accomplishments of teaching faculty in health and basic sciences education, and serve as a metric for promotion. Please encourage your faculty to nominate terrific educators in your department! Awards will be presented at the annual Academy of Educators Education Day on October 15, 2024- please save the date.

Call for Membership Applications
Membership in the Academy of Educators is an honor and is specifically mentioned in the new APGAR as a metric for promotion. Please encourage promising educators in your department to apply! Membership will give them the recognition they deserve, build their network of collaborators and mentors, support the Academy via educational service and leverage Academy programming and initiatives to benefit your department. All application requirements may be viewed on the Academy website. Induction of new members will be held at the annual Academy of Educators Education Day on October 15, 2024- please save the date.
Membership applications are accepted May 7-June 21, 2024.
While it’s an honor to be selected for the Academy, we are a service academy designed to support the growth of our community of teachers through formal educator development programs.
