Dr. David Goran joins the Department of Medicine

Dr. David Goran joins the Department of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology as an Assistant Professor in October, 2018.

Dr. Goran completed medical school at Washington University School of Medicine in 1976, and completed his internship, residency and GI fellowship training at what was then Jewish Hospital of St. Louis. He is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology and has been in community practice for more than 30 years.

His area of interest, experience and expertise is delivery of GI services in the community setting. He has participated in the development of 3 GI labs, including the lab under construction at the new Barnes Jewish West County Hospital. He has a lot of experience in building fruitful relationships with practitioners in the community.

Dr. Goran is a well-respected community gastroenterologist with a large practice of more than 3000 patients. He provides comprehensive care for the entire range of clinical GI practice, mostly focusing on irritable bowel syndrome, gastrointestinal reflux disease, cancer screening and inflammatory bowel disease. He has built a loyal following of primary care providers and he has outstanding rapport with his patients and their families. He manages an efficient practice and provides exceptional service to the referring community. Dr. Goran is also admired and respected by the nursing and support staff at BJWCH. He will be an excellent teacher for fellows and trainees who rotate through the BJWCH site.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Goran also oversaw the endoscopy lab at BJWCH, and participates in the regularly scheduled meetings of the BJC HealthCare Clinical Expert Council meetings on quality initiatives for the system. In his role as director of the endoscopy lab, Dr. Goran has been instrumental in transforming the capacity of that facility to accommodate the expansion of patient volumes that have accrued as the GI Division has expanded its activity to BJWCH.
