Emily F. Cole, MD, MPH, FAAD – John Cochran VA Medical Center Chief of Dermatology

I am pleased to announce that Emily F. Cole, MD, MPH, FAAD, has been selected as the new Chief of Dermatology at the John Cochran VA Medical Center.

Dr. Cole is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Dermatology at WashU Medicine. She specializes in complex medical dermatology, with particular clinical and research interests in chronic itch (pruritus) and autoimmune blistering diseases.

Dr. Cole earned her undergraduate degree in Cognitive Neuroscience from Brown University, her Master of Public Health in Chronic Disease Epidemiology from Yale University, and her medical degree from the University of Missouri. She completed her dermatology residency and served as Chief Resident at Emory University, followed by a fellowship in Complex Medical Dermatology at Emory. Prior to joining faculty Washington University, she served on the faculties of Emory University and Duke University.

Her scholarly work focuses on understanding the mechanisms and impact of chronic itch and autoimmune blistering diseases, with an emphasis on improving diagnosis, treatment, patient outcomes, and health equity. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, delivered invited lectures nationally and internationally, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology.
