We are pleased to to announce Erin Dyer, MD, Instructor in Medicine, has been appointed Associate Clerkship Director of the Internal Medicine Clerkship.
Dr. Dyer earned her medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where she graduated cum laude and was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. She completed her Internal Medicine internship and residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital/WashU Medicine, where she participated in the Washington University Teaching Physicians Pathway and developed online modules used during the Clerkship’s Foundational Week. Upon completing residency, she received a Knowlton Incentive for Excellence Award for her compassionate spirit and outstanding knowledge and skill.
Dr. Dyer served as Chief Resident for the Internal Medicine Residency Program. As a faculty member, she has worked with the Medicine Clerkship to develop a new Foundational Week session, “Nosocomial Fever,” and served on the Clerkship Competency Committee, giving her a strong understanding of the student evaluative process. She is committed to fostering psychologically safe learning environments and ensuring that students receive a strong foundation in Internal Medicine.
Dr. Dyer will join newly appointed Clerkship Director Dr. Marty Kerrigan in leading the Internal Medicine Clerkship. Together, they will provide professional, administrative, and educational leadership for the program. Marty shares, “Erin has a tremendous toolbox of skills in direct teaching, curriculum design, assessment, communication, and leadership that will allow the clerkship to provide outstanding education for our future phase 2 students. She is very well respected across the IM UME and GME community, and I’m glad to see her efforts have been rewarded with this opportunity.”
We also extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Lisa Zickuhr for her outstanding service as Clerkship Director, and wish her well in her new role as Program Director for the Rheumatology Fellowship.
