Dr. Jennifer Diaz joins the Department of Medicine

Jennifer Diaz, MD

Dr. Jennifer Diaz joins the Department of Medicine in the Division of Oncology as an Instructor as of July 2026.

Dr. Diaz completed MD/PhD training at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where her projects incorporated bioinformatics, computational genomics, and molecular genetics. She completed Internal Medicine Residency at UCLA before coming to the Washington University in St. Louis as a clinical fellow. Her current research is focused on understanding clone fitness in the evolution of clonal cytopenias of uncertain significance (CCUS), the role of splicing factors in CCUS and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), and the relationship between complex genotypes and cell fitness in CCUS and MDS. Her current research leverages analysis of serial whole genome sequencing of samples from a large cohort of patients and CRISPR-based genetic modeling in human hematopoietic cell models to address these questions.
