Dr. Crystal Azu joins the Department of Medicine

Crystal Azu, MD, MPH

Dr. Crystal Azu has joined the Department of Medicine in the Cardiovascular Division as an Assistant Professor in September 2024. Dr. Azu earned her BS in Neuroscience & Behavioral Biology from Emory University, and her MD from the University of Chicago in 2017. She also holds an MPH degree with a concentration in International Health & Health Systems from Johns Hopkins University, Bloomberg School of Public Health. She completed her internal medicine residency and global health certificate at Indiana University School of Medicine in 2020, and her cardiology fellowship at the University of North Carolina in 2024.

Her clinical interests include cardiac imaging and cardio-obstetrics. She plans to develop an ambulatory clinical practice in general cardiology and cardio-obstetrics. She is also interested in implementation research to improve equity and outcomes in maternal cardiovascular health within under-resourced settings, both domestically and abroad.
