Dr. Nitin Pokhrel joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Bone and Mineral Diseases as an Instructor in July 2024. He has previously worked on mouse models of osteoporosis. His research primarily focuses on osteoclasts and their manipulation using both pharmacologic and genetic approaches for the prevention of bone disorders. Currently, he is particularly interested in the interaction between tumor derived extracellular vesicles, osteoclasts, and bone. He is particularly interested in studying metastatic signatures of small extra cellular vesicles and their utility in predicting future bone metastatic events in patients. He also enjoys the process of mentoring students and talking about science with them.
