Dr. Rushin Patel joined the Division of Hospital Medicine in the Department of Medicine as an Instructor in July 2024. He grew up in Ahmedabad, India, where he also obtained his medical degree from BJ Medical College, Ahmedabad, in 2017 through Gujarat University. Dr. Patel’s professional journey includes completing his internship and residency at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital, St. Louis, MO, in 2022. Throughout his training, he actively engaged in diverse research and quality improvement endeavors, showcasing his broad interests. He has a particular passion for teaching and has thrived in collaborative environments, excelling as a team player. He enjoys teaching and working with both medical students and residents. Post-residency, Dr. Patel served as an internal medicine hospitalist at Community Hospital of San Bernardino, CA, for two years before transitioning to the hospital medicine division in 2024.
He finds fulfillment in patient care, especially in providing comprehensive treatment and support to vulnerable patients. His primary focus centers on general internal medicine with a special emphasis on inpatient care and quality improvement, addressing disparities in healthcare access. He has a special interest in the field of Hematology-Oncology. Dr. Patel has been very active and engaged in scholarly and research activities and has published various peer-reviewed publications, including meta-analyses, case reports, literature reviews, etc. Outside of medicine, Dr. Patel enjoys recreational activities like tennis, chess, hiking, soccer, and watching sports. He likes meeting new people and trying different foods and cuisines. He values spending quality time with his family and friends. Dr. Patel is enthusiastic about delivering exceptional care to his patients as a valued member of the Division of Hospital Medicine.
