Dr. Elisa De Togni joins the Department of Medicine

Elisa De Togni, MD

Dr. Elisa De Togni joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine as an Instructor in June 2024.  She grew up in Conway, Arkansas before attending Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry, graduating with Departmental Honors in Chemistry.  During undergraduate, she was awarded the Florence Moog Honorary Fellowship merit scholarship in Biology and Chemistry.  She acted as one of the chapter founders of Alpha Omega Epsilon, a professional sorority for women in engineering and technical sciences, at her university.  She then attended Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis where she received her medical degree.  During her time in medical school, she received an NIH NHLBI Research Training Grant and presented her research at the American Society of Hematology conference.

She was involved in multiple groups including the Music in Medicine Initiative and the Oncology student interest group and served as a medical student liaison for the Hematology-Oncology academic course.  Dr. De Togni remained at Washington University to complete her internship and residency in Internal Medicine from 2021 to 2024.  She has continued to participate in research in Hematology-Oncology including most recently in Bone Marrow Transplant medicine and was awarded the American Society of Hematology Abstract Achievement Award.  She was accepted into the Global Health program during residency in which she was able to observe Hematology and General Medicine practice in Accra, Ghana. She enjoys learning about history, reading, spending time with her cat, growing plants, going to museums, baking, playing saxophone, and hiking.
