Dr. Amaad Rana joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology as an Assistant Professor as of August 2023. He was born in Georgia and raised in Alabama. He attended Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, for college, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a minor in Arabic Language. He received his medical degree at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham where he decided to pursue a residency in Internal Medicine. He completed his residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and was selected to serve a chief resident both at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and the John Cochran Veterans Affairs Hospital in Saint Louis after completing residency.
He stayed to complete his Adult Rheumatology fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis and is excited to be staying on as faculty as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology. Dr. Rana also has a strong interest in medical education, as he completed the requirements for the Washington University Teaching Physicians Pathway while in residency, and plans to be involved in both undergraduate and graduate medical education. His key interests are Rheumatology, Medical Education and General Internal Medicine.
