The 3rd Annual Department of Medicine’s Women in Medicine and Science Seminar was held in person for the first time on April 11, 2024. This year’s event focused on the theme “Climbing the Academic Ladder: Insider Tips for Success.”
Participants from across departments on campus, including students, trainees, staff, and faculty, gathered for a day filled with insightful presentations and engaging discussions. The event began with an inspiring panel discussion, setting the stage for a series of informative talks.
Our keynote speaker Tonette Krousel-Wood, MD, MSPH, Associate Provost for Health Sciences, Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs, Associate Dean for Public Health & Medical Education at Tulane School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine shared valuable insights for navigating a career in academia.
Dr. Dineo Khabele shared the importance of leading with integrity. We explored the framework of navigating organizational politics with Dr. Dominique Cosco. Dr. Judy Trieu guided the audience through the steps of professional branding for success. We closed the day with some concrete strategies for successful promotion and career advancement with Dr. Renee Shellhaas. Our speakers shared their expertise, providing both practical tips and personal anecdotes.
