Dr. Hani Soudah joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology as an Assistant Professor in June 2024. Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Soudah has a tremendous interest in teaching and educating medical students, residents, and fellows about the treatment of obesity. He has also been involved in the development of guidelines and protocols for obesity treatment. Driven by his passion for both clinical work and research, he actively engages in research activities to discover new knowledge that will benefit humanity and improve lives. Dr. Hani Charles Soudah is a dedicated professional in the field of medicine. In June of 2024, he joined WashU School of Medicine in the Department of Medicine as an attending physician in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Lipid Research, section Metabolic Weight Management, and Associate Professor of Medicine.
Dr. Soudah’s educational background includes obtaining MD and PhD degrees from the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) at the University of Hamburg Germany. Subsequently, he joined the Division of Gastroenterology in the Department of Medicine at the University of Michigan as a research associate. During this time, he focused specifically on the effects of various peptides on the gastrointestinal track, with a keen interest in understanding the intricate relationship between the gut and the brain. After completing his internal medicine training at Barnes-Jewish Hospital/WashU School of Medicine, Dr. Soudah initially practiced in internal medicine. However, his passion for and intense interest in bariatric medicine and related diseases led him to pursue specialty certifications in obesity medicine. He then developed a focused Medical Weight Management clinic at St. Luke’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, dedicated to treating obesity and obesity-related diseases.
