 \, Duke University School of Medicine</p><p>Dr. Cooney is a medical oncolog
 ist focused on caring for men with prostate cancer and internationally know
 n for investigations examining the genetic epidemiology of prostate cancer.
  She discovered a recurrent mutation in the <i>HOXB13</i> gene that increas
 es the chances of being diagnosed with prostate cancer. Her current researc
 h focuses on identifying germline mutations associated with lethal and aggr
 essive prostate cancer as well as prostate cancer in African American men.<
